The San Francisco 49ers have two significant issues during training camp, with two of their best offensive players currently in limbo regarding their immediate future, as star left tackle Trent Williams wants a new deal and is holding out, while star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk wants the same and has asked to be traded.
Although it seems like the relationship between Aiyuk and general manager John Lynch isn’t strained at the moment, there’s been no movement on a new deal with Week 1 of the NFL regular season right around the corner for the 49ers.
It doesn’t seem like the team feels any urgency about completing a deal with Aiyuk, which has led many to believe that they are gauging trade interest around the league and that it will only be a matter of time before he is sent elsewhere before Week 1.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Aiyuk has some say in this process of getting traded, as he can dictate where he wants to go via The Pat McAfee Show.
“If Brandon Aiyuk doesn’t wanna go to a team, he can say I’m not taking that contract.. He has the ability to say no to these teams if he doesn’t wanna go there,” Schefter said.

Obviously, this needs to be done quickly, or things could get very ugly for San Francisco moving forward as they inch closer to their first game of the season when they host Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets on September 9.
It’ll be interesting to see how everything pans out and whether Aiyuk’s future remains in the Bay Area or with another team.
