The Dallas Mavericks’ best player is banged up, and that’s never good news, especially in the NBA Finals.

Luka Doncic has played through a knee injury throughout the course of the entire playoffs, but that’s not all.

He’s also dealing with an ankle ailment, and he was downgraded to questionable ahead of Game 2 with a new injury in the chest area.

Nonetheless, as banged up as he is, there’s simply no way he’s not going to take the floor.

At least, that’s according to Shams Charania.

Talking on FanDuel TV’s “Run It Back,” the insider reported that Mavs staff members and even Luka know there’s simply no way he’s going to sit out with these ailments.

Luka was very aggressive right out of the gate and put on a scoring show early in the game, but he struggled to keep that pace up later in the second half.

He became more of a playmaker and missed five shots in the fourth quarter, which didn’t help his team’s case in an eight-point loss.

Doncic has never been the kind of player who makes up excuses, and he’s not going to start now.

Yes, the Celtics are the deeper and healthier team, but Doncic is a relentless competitor who’s not going to sit out while his teammates try to take care of business.

Still, he’s going to need more help from his supporting cast, especially from Kyrie Irving, who has been nowhere to be found in the first two games.
