A sensational season for the Detroit Lions could turn into a championship-winning season for them, and they will look to continue toward that goal when they visit the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday with a spot in Super Bowl LVIII at stake.
In the 49ers, Detroit will be going up against one of the NFL’s best overall defenses, and the Niners have had plenty of success in stopping the run in particular.
That means Detroit’s passing game will need to be prolific, and a big part of that passing game has been tight end Sam LaPorta, who put up 889 yards and 10 touchdowns during the regular season.
The rookie has been dealing with a knee injury, but per Adam Schefter, he will be available for the NFC Championship Game on Sunday.
Lions’ TE Sam LaPorta is off the injury report despite his knee injury and is good to go for Sunday’s NFC Championship Game vs. the 49ers.

The Lions were fourth in passing touchdowns and second in passing yards this season, as quarterback Jared Goff had another excellent year with 4,575 passing yards and 30 passing touchdowns.
LaPorta wasn’t their only player who put up big touchdown numbers — wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown also had 10 touchdowns while running backs Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery combined for 23 touchdowns on the ground.
Detroit will have to overcome a San Francisco front seven that has the ability to apply tremendous pressure on opposing quarterbacks and help produce plenty of turnovers.
The team hasn’t been to the NFC title game since the 1991 season and has never been to the Super Bowl, but its fans seem to believe that this is the type of magical season in which it can do just about anything.
