The Los Angeles Lakers have struck out in free agency so far, missing out on Klay Thompson, James Harden, Jonas Valanciunas, likely Buddy Hield, and everybody else that they were reported to have some level of interest in.

It’s unclear what’s next for the team after signing LeBron James to a two-year max contract and bringing in Dalton Knecht and Bronny James in the draft, but one insider recently shed some light on where the Lakers might go from here.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski shared on SportsCenter that the Lakers will be making moves on the edges and looking for veteran minimum signings, while they are not interested in including any draft picks to salary dump any contracts.

Woj also added that the Lakers don’t believe the idea of building a team around three stars works anymore due to the new CBA, so it’s not a major priority to land a third superstar to play with LeBron and Anthony Davis.

Unless LA wants to sign DeMar DeRozan or Miles Bridges, there aren’t many players left in free agency who can come in and make a huge impact.

Reports suggested early in free agency that LeBron would be willing to take a pay cut to accommodate another big acquisition in free agency, but him now taking the max likely means this team doesn’t have a big move up its sleeve.

If these reports are true, this offseason is mostly a wrap already for the Lakers unless they find a big trade somewhere, and their fans are once again left disappointed after getting their hopes up.
