When Gabe Vincent was signed to the Los Angeles Lakers last summer, the hope was that he’d be a strong guard who could help run the backcourt, posting crucial shots from the perimeter and also providing strong defense.

Sadly, Lakers fans didn’t get a large sample size to judge Vincent at the start of the season, as he only played in five games before being sidelined because of an injury.

He hasn’t played since but, according to Shams Charania, Vincent will be back soon.

Speaking on “Run It Back,” Charania said: “Gabe Vincent is doing more and more on the court…Barring any setbacks, his hope is still mid-to-late March to get back in the lineup for the Lakers.”

It sounds like Vincent will be returning to his team right before the postseason begins, which could be a huge help for the Lakers.

For his five games this season, Vincent averaged 5.4 points, 1 rebound, and 3 assists.

When playing with the Miami Heat last season, Vincent recorded 9.4 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 2.5 assists.

Vincent showed some skills during his few games with the Lakers but he also showed a large regression in his shooting percentages.

He was shooting 37.5% from the field, down from 40.2% from last season.

He also only landed 11.8% of his three-pointers, which was quite startling to Lakers fans.

When Vincent comes back, he will allow D’Angelo Russell and Austin Reaves more time to rest during games and will hopefully get back into the swing of things quickly.

He won’t have much time before the start of the playoffs, although it’s not clear if the Lakers will even make it into the postseason.

Right now, they are the ninth team in the West with a 34-29 record, which means they would qualify for the Play-In Tournament if it started today.
