The New England Patriots are in a place they haven’t been for decades — in the NFL’s basement and in the early stages of a rebuilding process.
Bill Belichick, their legendary head coach for 24 years, is gone, and in his place is first-time head coach Jerod Mayo and a brand-new staff.
The Patriots have many, many roster needs, and at the top of the list is a true franchise quarterback.
Luckily, they have the No. 3 pick in this month’s draft, and per Albert Breer, they’re in the process of visiting with the three best QBs they could have the opportunity to select — Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels, and J.J. McCarthy.
The Patriots will have LSU QB Jayden Daniels in for dinner Monday and his 30 visit Tuesday at Gillette Stadium, per sources. They hosted UNC’s Drake Maye today, have Michigan’s JJ McCarthy scheduled the week after next.
For now, those 3 are the only QBs slated to visit Foxboro.

There is a feeling that perhaps Daniels is the second-best signal-caller in the draft after the USC’s Caleb Williams, especially because of his dual-threat ability.
He threw for 3,812 yards and 40 touchdowns while running for 1,134 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2023 as a member of LSU..
Maye had 3,608 passing yards and 24 passing touchdowns plus nine rushing touchdowns last season while at the University of North Carolina.
Right now, McCarthy may be the most intriguing player in this year’s draft class.
On one hand, he led the University of Michigan to an appearance in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, where they defeated the University of Washington, and his stock has been rising lately.
However, some feel he’s overrated because his stats weren’t too impressive and nothing stands out about him in a huge way.
All in all, the decision New England makes with their No. 3 pick will likely shape the direction of their franchise for at least the next decade.
