On paper, the Phoenix Suns were the undisputed and clear-cut favorite to run away with the NBA championship this season.
But as we’ve seen over and over, paper doesn’t win titles, and this team hasn’t been the exception to that rule.
Trading for Bradley Beal was as promising as it was worrisome, as he had missed plenty of time during his final couple of years in the nation’s capital.
The former Washington Wizards shooting guard has barely been able to play this season, and their Big 3 has only shared the floor once this year.
Fortunately, Shams Charania of The Athletic said on FanDuel’s “Run It Back” that Beal is reportedly ahead of schedule and could return from his ankle injury as early as this weekend, whether it’s Saturday vs. the Charlotte Hornets or Sunday vs. the Orlando Magic.
“I’m told [Bradley Beal] is progressing, he is ahead of schedule, and I’m told he could return as soon as this weekend.”@ShamsCharania updates on Bradley Beal.

Kevin Durant has been spectacular for the Suns, and Devin Booker has also posted great numbers, but that hasn’t always translated into wins.
Frank Vogel’s team is just 15-15 for the season and their supporting cast has failed to step up, both in terms of shooting and defense.
Of course, having three of the best scorers in the game will give them a chance to win every single game, and there’s still a chance they can get hot and fulfill their potential toward the end of the season.
Then again, they’ll have to make sure to keep Beal on the floor, and that has been a major issue over the past three campaigns or so.
