Despite having played just one game thus far, the Indiana Pacers have received more than just one win this season.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, they just signed coach Rick Carlisle to a contract extension.

Carlisle, who spent years with the Dallas Mavericks before returning to the Pacers in 2021, is nearing his 900th career win, and Woj now reports that he’s locked in to achieve that with the Pacers, who offered him a multi-year extension.
Notably, Carlisle is one of the few active coaches with an NBA championship under his belt.
Needless to say, the Pacers are still a ways away from being a championship contender, but they’ve most definitely taken steps in the right direction over the past couple of seasons.
Tyrese Haliburton looks like a legit franchise player and leader, and surrounding him with young talents like Bennedict Mathurin and Jarace Walker could give them an interesting core for years to come.
While Buddy Hield is likely to be traded, veterans like Bruce Brown Jr. and Myles Turner are also pivotal pieces of their core, and Obi Toppin could turn out to be as good as New York Knicks fans thought he’d be.
Coach Carlisle is a respected figure around the league and in the locker room.
He’s a savvy veteran who’s been there and done that, and he knows how to bring the most out of his role players.
It’s an exciting time to be a Pacers fan, and they can only hope this core will finally get them over the hump.
