In the aftermath of a total collapse in the NFL playoffs last season, the Dallas Cowboys were thought to make some drastic changes during the NFL offseason while also potentially securing the futures of Dak Prescott, Micah Parsons and CeeDee Lamb.

Despite all the speculation and expectations for some changes, the Cowboys brass have been unexpectedly quiet during the offseason in terms of making moves and trying to improve the roster while also taking care of their superstars at key positions.

Although Prescott’s contract situation has dominated the headlines in Dallas, Lamb’s deal needs to get done sooner rather than later because he’s currently holding out of training camp until a deal gets done.

With Lamb being the best offensive weapon on the team and among the elite wide receivers in the NFL, he will likely secure a deal that could reset the market at his position, topping Justin Jefferson’s contract extension with the Minnesota Vikings.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport of NFL Network provided an update on the contract talks between Lamb and the Cowboys, which seems to be trending in the right direction.

“It does sound to me there’s been some progress,” Rapoport said. “It does sound like they are getting closer. I’m not saying they are there yet, but it does sound like they are getting closer.”

Only time will tell whether the Cowboys and Lamb will see eye-to-eye on a new deal and end the holdout, which has become a distraction in training camp.

If Lamb gets his deal, which is almost certainly going to happen, attention will turn back to Parsons and Prescott ahead of the start of the 2024 campaign in September.
