With the Green Bay Packers looking weaker without Aaron Rodgers, the NFC North appears as wide-open as ever and the Minnesota Vikings will be looking to capitalize on that during the 2023 season.

The Vikings have managed to stay competitive over the years, but have had trouble getting over the hump as they seem to melt down at the wrong times.

However, Minnesota should feel confident in its chances to take the next step and it all starts with superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson.

Through his first three seasons in the league, Jefferson has managed to break multiple receiver records and is projected to have another strong year.

Now that the All-Pro wideout is in his fourth season, he is extension-eligible and will command a lucrative deal given his talents.

Jefferson and the Vikings have been negotiating terms for a potential extension but it sounds like the two sides will wait for the offseason instead via Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Vikings’ All-Pro WR Justin Jefferson is not expected to sign a contract extension before Sunday’s opener, per sources. Both sides made a strong effort to get a deal done, but the plan now is to revisit after the season.

Players like Joe Burrow and Nick Bosa just got paid record deals for their position groups and Jefferson is expected to follow suit whenever he receives his new contract.

A generational talent, Jefferson has all the tools required to play the receiver position and is a one-man offensive force.

No matter what kind of defense gets thrown at him, Jefferson has the unique ability to create space and give Kirk Cousins an easy throwing window.

Although it might be a little nerve-wracking for fans to not have Jefferson locked down, it feels like a matter of when it’ll happen versus if.
