After flaming out quickly in the NBA playoffs, losing to Luka Doncic’s Dallas Mavericks in the first round in six games, the Los Angeles Clippers head into an NBA offseason filled with uncertainty about the immediate future of the team.
The team’s top priority this summer ahead of moving into the Intuit Dome next season will be retaining superstar forward Paul George, who will likely opt out of the final year of his contract with the team and become an unrestricted free agent.
Although George has been saying all the right things and appears to like playing for his hometown Clippers, there’s been a lot of speculation around the league that he could sign with the Philadelphia 76ers this summer to join forces with fellow stars Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.
According to Keith Pompey of the Philly Inquirer, the Sixers could be willing to offer Paul George $212 million over four years via Evan Sidery of Forbes.
The Clippers are unwilling to offer Paul George more than they gave Kawhi Leonard, a three-year, $152.3 million extension, per @PompeyOnSixers (https://t.co/x8YYmjWfCo).

At this point, the safe bet is to assume that George will opt out of his current deal with the Clippers and re-sign with the team on a massive deal.
However, there’s a chance that George will test free agency this summer in hopes of landing with a team with a better chance of winning it all, and the 76ers might give him that opportunity.
With Kawhi Leonard becoming an unreliable teammate due to his persistent injury issues, George may have grown tired of the same story in Los Angeles year after year, but he could get the same situation in Philadelphia with Embiid also having his fair share of injury issues.
