The Dallas Cowboys have a significant offseason ahead of them.

For many reasons, this offseason will determine the kind of expectations the Cowboys will have next season.

Dallas is always expected to contend for the Super Bowl, but sometimes they do not make moves to show that.

But, Cowboys owner/GM Jerry Jones did say the team will be going “all-in” for 2024.

If that is the case he needs to prove it by opening up the checkbook.

One player who needs to get extended first is quarterback Dak Prescott.

He has a massive cap hit in 2024, so the only way Dallas can bring that number down is by extending Prescott.

According to Jordan Schultz via Dov Kleiman, Prescott is expected to command a contract worth up to $60 million per year.

Prescott has all the leverage in this situation and is coming off the best season of his career.

The Cowboys have no choice but to pay Prescott.

Losing him would mean a total rebuild in Dallas and that is not something they want to do.

Even though his total contract would be hefty, it would save the Cowboys money against the cap in 2024.

Right now, that is all the Cowboys should be worried about.

They have to put the best roster on the field next season to have a chance to compete for a title.

No matter what the price tag is, the Cowboys could do a lot worse at quarterback.

When you go into a game with Prescott you always think you have a chance to win.

All the Cowboys can do now is pay him and build a championship roster around him.
