Now that the season is over for the Cleveland Cavaliers, all eyes are on Donovan Mitchell and what happens to him this summer.
Mitchell and the Cavaliers have been unable to work out a contract extension this year, which means that the star player has just one more year left on his contract before he can opt in or out with a player option.
The Cavaliers and Mitchell have to decide if they want to continue their relationship or make some changes.
Speaking on ESPN, via Evan Sidery, Adrian Wojnarowski said Mitchell and his agent plan to meet with the team this summer “at the right time” to talk about their future together.

Mitchell made it clear that he isn’t unhappy or frustrated with the team right now.
Therefore, even if he leaves the Cavaliers, he will do so on good terms.
If he agrees to an extension, he is eligible for a four-year, $209 million deal.
But if both sides can’t hash out a deal that Mitchell is happy with, the Cavaliers will likely start to plan for a trade.
That’s because they don’t want to keep Mitchell around and then presumably lose him for nothing if he decides to opt out of his player option next year.
They know that Mitchell will have great value in the current trade market and will capitalize on it.
Numerous teams would jump at the chance to get Mitchell, who averaged 26.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game this season.
All year, there have been many rumors about Mitchell and what will happen this summer.
Now the time has come and fans will soon know his next steps.
