Earlier this week, the Los Angeles Lakers fell to the defending NBA champion Denver Nuggets in Game 5 of their first-round playoff series, resulting in Nikola Jokic and company advancing to the second round to face the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Although the Lakers put up a fight against arguably the best team in the league, the dynamic duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis weren’t able to keep up with the defending champions in a seven-game series for the second year in a row.

With the Lakers’ season officially coming to an end this week, the attention turns to head coach Darvin Ham, who has been rumored to be on the hot seat with his firing seemingly inevitable.

According to Jovan Buha of The Athletic, Ham could be fired as soon as Friday, with the team wanting to start yet another coaching search.

.@jovanbuha details the latest on Darvin Ham’s job status with the Lakers on the latest episode of the Athletic NBA Show.

If the rumors are true and Ham is on his way out, the first-time head coach will have only lasted two seasons in Los Angeles and will have become another head coach who couldn’t stand the test of time while at the helm of the Lakers in the post-Phil Jackson era.

Ham will be another coach who couldn’t fit the bill since Jackson left the team with a list of names that includes Mike Brown, Bernie Bickerstaff, Mike D’Antoni, Byron Scott, Luke Walton, and Frank Vogel.

It’ll be interesting to see what candidates emerge for the potential job opening in Los Angeles, as it is unclear at this moment who might be in the running to be the next head coach of the Lakers.
