The National Football League is a passer’s league now more than ever.
It doesn’t matter how good your defense is or how many talented skill players you have out there; you just won’t be able to get the job done unless you’re set at the quarterback position.
That’s why some Las Vegas Raiders fans aren’t particularly excited about the upcoming campaign.
Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew make up for one of the least impressive quarterback rooms in the league, and they haven’t been very impressive in the preseason thus far.
With that in mind, NFL insider Ari Meirov reported that the Raiders are expected to make a decision about their starting quarterback at some point in the upcoming week.
The #Raiders are expected to name a starting QB this week, though there hasn’t been a clear leader in preseason action. Here’s how they performed last night against the Dallas Cowboys backup defense:
– Aidan O’Connell: 14/20, 96 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT (pick-6).
– Gardner Minshew:… pic.twitter.com/fJOZmBjYme

O’Connell completed 14 of 20 passes for 96 yards to go along with one touchdown and one pick-six vs. the Dallas Cowboys’ backup defense.
Minshew, on the other hand, went 10 for 21 for 95 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions.
The Raiders and their players are all-in on Antonio Pierce ahead of his first full season in charge of the team.
He proved that, when rallying together, this team could be special defensively and even win some games they were supposed to lose.
Then again, as good as they might be on defense, and as motivated as the team could be, the fact of the matter is that their chances of making the playoffs with either O’Connell or Minshew taking the reins of the offense seem to be very bleak, to say the least.
