Klay Thompson’s time with the Golden State Warriors has come to an end and he is now a member of the Dallas Mavericks.
This marks a massive change for the four-time champion and, hopefully, an exciting new chapter for his career.
Speaking with Pat McAfee, Shams Charania said Thompson turned down a larger offer that was put on the table by the Los Angeles Lakers and chose to sign with the Mavericks instead.
Charania said that Thompson did this because he feels the Mavericks give him the best chance of winning a title.
He feels he has a better chance of winning with the Mavericks instead of the Lakers or even his old team, the Warriors.

Charania added that Thompson has been assured he will be a starter with the Mavericks, which is surely a big deal for him.
He started in 63 of his 77 games with the Warriors in 2023-24.
Head coach Steve Kerr saw Thompson’s struggles on the court and chose to place him on the bench at times, a move that reportedly didn’t go over well.
Now that he’s going to Dallas, he will be on the floor a lot more.
But will he perform better than he did last season?
Although he still posted 17.9 points per game, Thompson shot worse than he had in years and was clearly having some problems.
How will he look for the Mavericks?
Fans of the team are hoping Thompson looks like his old self instead of the player they witnessed in 2023-24.
He clearly feels that this team has a chance of winning a title but he needs to deliver a lot to make that happen.
