For years, the Miami Heat have been rumored to be in the mix to get countless stars.

They missed on Bradley Beal, Kevin Durant, DeMar DeRozan, Donovan Mitchell, and — more recently — Damian Lillard.

Experts and fans have talked about how much they need another star to help Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo, and judging by the results on the court, that’s not a far-fetched thought.

That’s why some fans were disappointed to see that, once again, Pat Riley didn’t bring another star to South Beach.

Nonetheless, Heat insider Andy Elisburg wasn’t surprised about that.

If anything, he claimed that the Heat saw the Terry Rozier trade as their big free-agency move; they just decided to do it earlier by trading for him last season (via Heat vs Haters, SiriusXM NBA Radio & NBA Central).

The Miami Heat didn’t sign any major free agents this summer, considering their early trade for Terry Rozier as the equivalent of a major free agent acquisition, per Andy Elisburg

“Our free agent move this year was the Terry [Rozier] move. We just decided to do it early.”

Rozier is a three-level shot-maker who can get hot in the blink of an eye, and he’s also a willing passer who can make plays for others.

Unfortunately for Erik Spoelstra, he wasn’t available when it mattered the most because of injury.

Rozier is a streaky shooter who can also freelance on defense from time to time, but the Heat are usually good enough defensively to hide players like him on that end of the floor.

He might not be the high-profile player the fans want and think the team needs, but he can stretch the floor with his shooting and provide another source of offense besides Butler.

Whether he’ll be enough to get over the hump remains to be seen.
