Following their win over the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday night, the New York Knicks are just one win away from heading to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in decades.

The team has been growing in huge ways over the last few years and that’s partly because of the hard work of head coach Tom Thibodeau.

Thibodeau has done so well with the team that it’s likely he will sign a new contract with them soon.

Speaking on “Run It Back,” Shams Charania said that the Knicks are eager to ink a new deal with Thibodeau.

“The Knicks very much want to lock in Tom Thibodeau long term,” Charania said.

The Knicks are so intent on keeping Thibodeau for years to come that his next deal will likely approach eight figures, according to Charania.

This is Thibodeu’s fourth year leading the Knicks and it’s easily his best yet.

The team went on a 50-32 run in the regular season and has now fought hard to make it to the Eastern Conference semifinals.

This isn’t Thibodeau’s first coaching job, of course, as he led the Minnesota Timberwolves and Chicago Bulls in the past.

In the years before that, Thibodeau was an assistant coach for the Timberwolves, San Antonio Spurs, Philadelphia 76ers, and others.

He has his fair share of critics but Thibodeau is one of the most celebrated coaches in the league, even though he doesn’t go easy on his players and can ruffle some feathers with his choices.

The Knicks don’t care what others think of him; they simply care about the success he brings the team.

This year has definitely been a resounding success for New York so they will work hard this summer to keep him around for a very long time.
