The New York Knicks’ playoff run is over.

However, as disappointing as the outcome was, there are still plenty of reasons to be excited about this team going forward.

Jalen Brunson is a legitimate star, and they’ve found a core of guys who meshed perfectly together.

With that in mind, they’re going to be in the mix for another star in the summer.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Knicks will be very aggressive in the summer and be tangled up with multiple stars that could become available (via New York Basketball).

Shams on Knicks: “They’re going to continue to be aggressive…They’re looking for that next player if he is available…Julius Randle…extension eligible…teams are monitoring the situation…Randle’s got the number if you are to make a big big trade” pic.twitter.com/IMFsKvMtVc

He also adds that teams will keep an eye on Julius Randle’s situation and how the Knicks deal with his impending contract extension.

Whether they decide to keep him or not, he’ll have the kind of big salary that it would take to make a big move in the offseason.

The Knicks needed a No. 2 in the playoffs, and Randle is the kind of guy who could give you 15-20 points on any given night, so moving on from him might not be in their best interest.

Then again, he’s also not a good defender, and the team looked quite solid without him more often than not, so there could also be a case to be made for moving on from him.

What they absolutely cannot afford is to let OG Anunoby go, and re-signing him should be at the top of their priority list.

Whatever the case, the Knicks are in a position to be very good for years to come.
