Insider Says 1 NBA Team Is Looking To Trade Their First Round Draft Pick

The Los Angeles Lakers have plenty of things to address this summer.

Of course, LeBron James and his future with the organization will be of the utmost importance, and chances are most moves will revolve around that thought.

James has hinted at needing a third star, and the fact of the matter is that as good a team as the Lakers are, they’re not as good as actual championship contenders.

With that in mind, Rob Pelinka is reportedly looking to trade their No. 17 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, according to a report by Jovan Buha of The Athletic (via NBA Central).

The Lakers are looking to trade the No. 17 pick, per @jovanbuha

“ It will be the first time that they could use all three of their tradable first-round picks, and it’s a prime opportunity for them to potentially get either a third star… Whether that is a significant move like… pic.twitter.com/Pm9g6dwTSz

The report states that this would be the first time the Lakers could trade all their three tradeable first-round picks so they could package them to land a star like Donovan Mitchell and Trae Young or pursue 3-and-D players or another big man.

Anthony Davis is coming off his best season as a Laker from a stats and availability standpoint, but the bigger picture suggests otherwise.

More often than not, he was nowhere to be found in crunch time, putting up most of his numbers in the first three quarters.

It’s become painfully evident that he’s an elite Robin, perhaps the best in the league, but not much of a Batman, and the Lakers can’t put all their hopes on a soon-to-be 40-year-old.

Whether they’ll be able to land another All-Star-caliber player remains to be seen, but three first-round picks would be a great starting point in negotiations.
