Just last season, the Brooklyn Nets looked absolutely doomed.

Signing Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving could go down as the absolute worst move in franchise history, and we’re talking about the very same team that traded a plethora of assets for an aging Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett.

Fortunately for them, the Mikal Bridges trade to the New York Knicks propelled their rebuild, and they’re now in a position to bounce back much sooner than expected.

As a matter of fact, ESPN expert Bobby Marks believes they can control free agency in 2025 (via NetsKingdom).

He explains that the Nets will have up to four first-round picks, one of which might be a top-four pick depending on how they fare this season.

Who controls free agency next year?

More than that, they will also have north of $70 million in free cap space, perhaps even more if they end up moving Dorian Finney-Smith at some point in the season, as expected.

Given how things transpired with Durant and Irving, the Nets will likely be very thorough regarding the next big-time players they sign.

This team will likely struggle next season as they will have one of the worst rosters in the league.

But we’ve seen how quickly a team can turn things around, and making just a couple of tweaks and additions could propel them right back to playoff contention.
