It’s meeting season, as teams around the NFL are lining up as many meetings as possible with draft prospects ahead of one of the biggest weekends of the year to analyze everything from how prospects look physically, to how they engage with the people around them and handle interviews, to whether or not they order dessert after dinner.
Despite all these meetings, one insider says that one top-5 pick is still a complete mystery due to having so many meetings.
Albert Breer of NBC Sports went on “The Rich Eisen Show” to discuss the draft and said that the Washington Commanders are the mystery team, as nobody is certain what they’re doing with the No. 2 pick after they took 22 prospects to TopGolf at the same time.

Breer added that doing things this way was a strategic move by the new regime that was inspired by how things run in San Francisco by the 49ers in an effort to be more efficient and also see how these prospects interact with their peers.
He also highlighted how the Chicago Bears handled Caleb Williams differently, handling him separately from other prospects and only having him eat dinner together with other veteran players.
There is no right or wrong way to handle these meetings, but it’s nice to see the Commanders’ new regime trying to implement new things and establish a new culture because the franchise has needed it for a long time.
Breer made sure to note that the Commanders have had plenty of individual time with certain prospects as well, so fans don’t need to worry about every pre-draft meeting being a raucous night on the town.
