Just a season ago, it seemed like Lauri Markkanen would never leave the Utah Jazz.

Now reports are stating the team is willing to move Markkanen, but only for the right price.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Golden State Warriors have been “the most engaged team” for Markkanen.

They have discussed a proposal around Moses Moody, multiple first-round picks, multiple pick swaps, and multiple second-round picks.

If the Warriors are going to acquire Markkanen, they will have to give up a lot to get him.

For weeks now, it’s been very clear that the Warriors really want Markkanen, but it hasn’t been clear if they are willing to give the Jazz what they demand.

Utah’s front office has become notorious for requiring a lot during any and all trade negotiations.

Since Markkanen is their biggest star, they will ask a lot of the Warriors and will not accept anything short of a perfect deal.

Markkanen averaged 23.2 points and 8.2 rebounds last season, shooting 48% from the floor and 39.9% from the three-point line.

The Warriors see him as someone who could bring the roster together in a big way.

But is he really worth everything they’d have to give up?

Moody and multiple draft picks is a hefty package but there is a chance the Jazz will ask for even more.

They might even demand Jonathan Kuminga or other players too.

The Warriors will need to really think about who and what they are willing to sacrifice for Markkanen and if he is worth the major price tag from Utah.
