As things stand right now, it appears to be a two-way bidding war for San Francisco 49ers disgruntled wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.
According to ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler, the 49ers and the Pittsburgh Steelers both want him.
“Steelers remain motivated on a Brandon Aiyuk deal, but trade talks with 49ers were quiet in recent days as S.F. decides whether to extend the WR at a price point he would accept,” Fowler recently wrote on social media.

As one source pointed out, the team is ‘one phone call away’ on deal, with parameters in place.

After it possibly felt like Aiyuk was on his way out the door earlier this offseason, the 49ers could be close to bringing their No. 1 wide receiver back.
However, things could go south in an instant, which is where the Pittsburgh Steelers could swoop in.
If San Francisco could find a way to keep the back-to-back 1,000-yard wide receiver, their Super Bowl window could still be wide open for years to come.
Despite the all-around abilities of All-Pro receiver Deebo Samuel and the consistency of Pro Bowl tight end George Kittle, Aiyuk is the team’s best true pass-catcher.
If Pittsburgh found a way to get a sign-and-trade deal done, their offense could take a massive step in 2024.
Adding him to an offense that includes multiple 1,000-yard scrimmage backs and another 1,000-yard receiver in George Pickens sounds pretty good if you are a Steelers fan.
The stakes are fairly high for both teams.
Seemingly right in his prime, Aiyuk is one of the best wide receivers in the game when it comes to route-running and finding the hole in the zone.
The former Arizona State star put up a career-best 1,342 receiving yards and an average of 17.9 yards per reception in 2023.
