The James Harden saga with the Philadelphia 76ers has taken yet another turn on Wednesday, with an interesting development surfacing ahead of the team’s season opener on Thursday against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Harden has been away from the team recently, which has led to speculation that he might simply be waiting for a trade that doesn’t seem to be happening anytime soon.

Even when he returned to the team on Wednesday, the 76ers told him to stay in Philadelphia rather than join the team on the road to face the Bucks and the Toronto Raptors to start the 2023-24 NBA season.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Los Angeles Clippers appear to have grown tired of the back-and-forth with the 76ers on a potential Harden trade and are reportedly stepping back from trade talks.

This is a devastating blow to Harden’s hopes of being traded to his hometown team, as the Clippers seem to be the only team in the league with interest in acquiring the one-time NBA MVP.

As Wojnarowski points out, the Clippers could revisit these trade talks at some point during the season if it becomes clear the team needs a boost offensively, but as of right now, the talks appear to be paused.

The 76ers are now stuck in a dilemma with a superstar who doesn’t want to play for them and who may become increasingly more difficult to work with now that his trade destination has paused trade talks, but it remains to be seen what will happen from here on out.
