JJ Redick has been the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers for only a few days but he is already putting together big plans for next season.
He is hoping to get the most out of the team and its star players, including Austin Reaves.
Speaking to Pat McAfee, Shams Charania said that Redick has “high hopes” for Reaves and “wants him to really fulfill his potential.”
It’s not clear if that means Reaves will be an All-Star this season or will get more responsibility on the court but he clearly has a fan in his new head coach.

Reaves is about to start his fourth season in the league with the Lakers and it’s been quite a ride so far.
After going undrafted only a few years ago, he worked his way into the starting rotation and became one of the best players on the team.
In fact, some people claim he’s LA’s third-best player behind LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
The 26-year-old guard scored 15.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 5.5 assists last season and started in 57 games.
As he has become more productive and more popular, he has also become the target of other teams wishing to sign him.
There have been reports of several front offices eager to acquire Reaves in any potential deal with the Lakers.
But this report from Charania shows how valued the young star is in Los Angeles, which means he probably won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.
Fans will be excited to see what Redick does with Reaves.
How can he help him reach the next level?
Is Reaves about to have his best season yet and maybe earn his first All-Star appearance?
