Joe Burrow is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, and pretty soon, he is about to get some confirmation of that fact.

He has been negotiating with Cincinnati Bengals management to reach an agreement on a contract extension, and it will likely be an extremely rich one.

NFL Insider Ian Rapoport said that he expects that such an extension will make Burrow the highest-paid signal-caller in the league.

“I don’t get the sense that a Joe Burrow deal is imminent right now..

Eventually when it does get done though I do believe that he will be the highest paid QB”@RapSheet #PMSLive pic.twitter.com/80tBKMCRZ0

Burrow, who was the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, may not be the best quarterback in the game, but many feel he possesses a steadiness that no one else has.

His rookie season was disrupted by a severe knee injury that cast some doubt on his future, but he bounced back to lead the Bengals to a 10-7 record in 2021.

That year, they reached the Super Bowl, where they held a lead for most of the second half, only to fall to the Los Angeles Rams after a late touchdown by Cooper Kupp.

This season, Cincinnati will have the benefit of star offensive tackle Orlando Brown Jr., who has come to them from the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, the team that knocked them out of the AFC Championship Game last season.

They may be on the clock, as Burrow’s seemingly inevitable extension may make it very hard for them to retain some of their key players.

Wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase will also be up for an extension soon, and both extensions could necessitate letting some other players leave in free agency simply because the Bengals won’t be able to afford them.
