After making an inspired run in the NBA playoffs while not having star forward Julius Randle and dealing with some other injuries, the New York Knicks headed into the offseason confident that they are in a championship window and need to capitalize with some solid moves this summer.
Fortunately for New York, the team’s brass has been able to make some brilliant moves in the offseason thus far, with the Knicks landing Mikal Bridges in a blockbuster trade with the Brooklyn Nets, re-signing OG Anunoby, and superstar Jalen Brunson taking a massive discount in his extension to give the team flexibility for the next few years to keep players in New York while also making more upgrades.
Although the Knicks have put themselves in a good position to compete in the Eastern Conference for the foreseeable future, New York still needs to address the center position after the departure of Isaiah Hartenstein, who signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder in NBA free agency recently.
With Mitchell Robinson being undependable due to his constant issues with staying healthy, the Knicks need to find a reliable option if they truly want to contend in the East moving forward, according to Ian Begley of SNY via Let’s Talk Knicks.
“Who can start 30 games… is the next domino to fall for the Knicks,” Begley said. “They’ve continued to be in touch with Precious Achiuwa… they’ve also had casual trade talks about some high salaried veterans centers on the trade market.”

There have been rumors floating around that the Knicks could try to trade for Walker Kessler of the Utah Jazz, with seemingly every notable player on that squad being on the trade market, including Collin Sexton and Lauri Markkanen.
It’ll be interesting to see what direction the Knicks take from here and whether it makes them that much more of a stacked team ahead of the 2024-25 NBA season.
