Insider Says Lakers Are Excited About 1 Player This Season

Playing for Team USA in the FIBA Basketball World Cup was a huge opportunity for rising Los Angeles Lakers star Austin Reaves.

It gave him a chance to play with new teammates and also prove himself on an international stage.

But even though he has been devoted to the American national team for weeks now, he is still a Laker through and through.

According to Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson, Reaves was able to get a visit and workout from the Lakers coaching staff toward the end of the World Cup.

The team is very excited to have Reaves return for the upcoming training camp.

A prominent Laker told Robinson, “I can’t wait. He’s a freaking monster!”

That’s a very appropriate way to describe Reaves.

The young guard has only gotten better over his first couple of years in the league.

He scored 13 points, 3 rebounds, and 3.4 assists in 2022-23.

That was a step up from his rookie year but also just a taste of what he’s capable of.

He produced 16.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.6 assists during the team’s pivotal playoff games.

And during the World Cup, Reaves was good for 13.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game.

Reaves is also a very crucial part of the team’s culture.

He is a tough fighter, always full of energy and lacking in fear no matter who he is playing against.

In other words, he is the exact sort of young player that the Lakers want for the long term.

Therefore, it was no surprise when they signed Reaves to a contract extension at the start of free agency.

If Reaves continues to get better in the upcoming seasons, he will only become more monstrous.
