The Los Angeles Clippers and Paul George have been at a stalemate for months now.
It seemed like he was poised to sign a contract extension as soon as Kawhi Leonard signed his, as they were always expected to be on the same timeline, and one would expect that Leonard would only sign if he knew George was staying.
That hasn’t been the case thus far, and reports state that both parties are far apart in terms of what they consider to be a fair deal.
With that in mind, ESPN’s salary cap expert, Bobby Marks, took to NBA on ESPN to explain the current picture for the former Indiana Pacers star.

He claimed that the Clippers had roughly nine days to re-sign him before he got to talk to another team.
However, he believes it’s unlikely that George will just sign a new deal with them, as they would have all the leverage now, and clearly, they’re not on the same page.
His other option is to opt out of the final year of his contract and explore free agency, with the Philadelphia 76ers looking like the most aggressive and logical suitor for his services, as it’s been reported for months.
Last but not least, he could also look to force his way to a team by completing a sign-and-trade, although that might be a little more complicated.
For now, George’s future continues to be a major question mark, and it’ll be a talking point as free agency looms large.
