The Minnesota Vikings struck gold with Stephon Gilmore’s signing.
Not only did he fill a big hole in their depth chart, but he also brought some much-needed veteran leadership to the table.
That’s why they made sure to seal the deal and keep him away from other suitors.
According to a report by Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Carolina Panthers were also trying to get the former Defensive Player of the Year (via The Purple Persuasion).
The #Panthers also made an offer to Gilmore but Vikings came over the top strong here says @JFowlerESPN.

With that in mind, the Vikings one-upped their offer to lure him to the Twin Cities.
Gilmore will now be reunited with defensive coordinator Brian Flores, whom he worked alongside during their days together with the New England Patriots.
The Vikings have been dealt a big blow in the past couple of weeks.
J.J. McCarthy will miss the entirety of his rookie season with a knee injury, and what was once a promising campaign for Kevin O’Connell’s team has now become all about resiliency and proving the doubters wrong.
Gilmore isn’t particularly young, and he’s had some issues with injuries throughout the course of his career.
Then again, he’s coming off a very productive season with the Dallas Cowboys in 2023, so it’s not like he’s washed by any means or that he just can’t compete at the highest level anymore.
Also, they could still sneak their way into the playoffs, even if some analysts don’t love their chances.
As for the Panthers, this will likely be another long season in Carolina.
