This season, just about everything has been going wrong for the New England Patriots and quarterback Mac Jones.
Heading into Week 6, the Patriots are sitting with a miserable 1-4 record, and Jones has been delivering some of the worst single-game performances of his NFL career.
Jones has been playing so poorly during the last few weeks that New England has benched him in each of their last two matchups.
On Sunday, the Patriots will be taking on the Las Vegas Raiders, and according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Jones will be on a “short leash,” and if he struggles early in the contest, New England could potentially replace him with backup Will Grier (via Dov Kleiman).

During the last three weeks, the Patriots have scored an average of six points per game, and during his span, Jones has only completed 54.2 percent of his passes and averaged 154 passing yards per contest, in addition to throwing four interceptions and just one touchdown.
Since he was selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft by New England, the 25-year-old quarterback is easily having the worst season of his young career.
Jones was, at the very least, able to perform at an average to above-average level during his first two years with the Patriots.
But this season, things seem to just be going from bad to worse for Jones as each game goes by.
On Sunday, New England and their struggling quarterback will get to go up against a Raiders defense that has allowed an average of just 163 passing yards to their opponents in their last two games.
