The season is officially over for the Orlando Magic now that the Cleveland Cavaliers have defeated them in the opening round of the playoffs.
But even though the season is over, that doesn’t mean the future ahead isn’t still very bright for the young team.
The Magic are contemplating ways to improve the roster, including adding some All-Star, championship talent.
Speaking on Monday’s “Run It Back,” Shams Charania said that the Magic might be able to offer Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors a deal that would move him from California to Florida.
“One name to keep an eye on: Klay Thompson. I’m told there is mutual interest between the Magic and Klay Thompson,” Charania said.

Charania said that the Magic will have access to at least $60 million in cap space this summer, meaning they could land a huge free agent.
One of the aspects that they want to work on in the offseason is their shooting, whether via a point guard or shooting guard.
They see Thompson as someone who could tie the offense together, bring a slew of experience to the roster, and improve spacing and shooting.
Thompson’s 2023–24 season was, of course, very troubled and didn’t end the way he wanted it to.
But there is still faith that he can be in better form next year and could add a lot to a team.
However, he still doesn’t have a deal worked out with the Warriors and there are rumors of them cutting ties with the four-time champion.
Even with his problems, Thompson would be a majorly attractive free agent this summer and the Magic wouldn’t be the only team attempting to sign him.
They only made it to the first round this year but could Thompson be key to pushing the Magic further next year?
