The NBA Finals couldn’t have started any better for the Boston Celtics.
After winning the first two games of the series, this team looked like they had a fire under them, which was inspired by Kristaps Porzingis.
Porzingis hadn’t played in several weeks due to injury, but when he came back, it was like he never left.
He was a lethal force from the three-point line in these two games, and his defensive and rebounding efforts were a sight to behold.
While it looked like he was back in full force, Porzingis suffered yet another injury in Game 2.
This put his status for Game 3 in jeopardy, and he ended up missing the game entirely.
Now, Porzingis is in real danger of missing more games, as Adrian Wojnarowski recently reported.
Per Wojnarowski via NBA Central, “There is real doubt that Kristaps Porzingis will be able to return at any point in the Finals.”

Thankfully for the Celtics, they might only need to play one more game without Porzingis, considering they won Game 3.
Porzingis was viewed as an ‘X’ factor for the Celtics in this series, but as they proved in Game 3, they can find ways to win without him.
If Porzingis isn’t available until the 2024-2025 season, he still helped the Celtics get to this point, including helping them dominate in the first two games of the series.
He has dealt with similar injuries in his career, but after proving to himself and the rest of the league that he has plenty of gas left in the tank, Porzingis will hopefully be back with a vengeance next year.
