While some predicted the New York Jets would get Brock Bowers in the first round, the team chose to continue addressing their offensive line.
At the end of the day, they already had a solid core of pass-catchers, and they had signed Mike Williams earlier in the offseason.
Nonetheless, when they saw that Malachi Corley was still up for grabs in the third round, they didn’t hesitate to trade up to land the WKU product.
Now, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports that the Jets’ coaches have been in awe of his game during their rookie minicamp (Via Paul Andrew Esden Jr.).
STOCK UP BABY! @JFowlerESPN said there is ‘major buzz’ in the #Jets building about new WR @CorleyMalachi.
‘Somebody in the building told me he’s ‘‘rugged’’ the type of player that reminds you maybe a little bit, I know it’s a high comp, of a Deebo Samuel type at least… pic.twitter.com/lQGYyTXu1O

They’ve compared Corley to Deebo Samuel, stating that he can do a little bit of everything and pick up 20+ yards with ease with his ‘rugged’ style of play.
Notably, this isn’t the first time that he’s drawn comparisons to the San Francisco 49ers star.
They both have similar builds (5-foot-11 and 215 pounds, more or less), as well as similar speed and styles.
The Jets will cleary favor Garrett Wilson and Mike Williams as their top-two pass-catchers, but Williams always comes with durability concerns, especially after suffering a torn ACL last season.
This team is expected to compete for a Super Bowl berth, and Aaron Rodgers clearly knows how to bring the best out of every single wide receiver and skill player by his side.
So, even if he’s not in for a big role right away, he could become one of his favorite teammates if he gets a chance to prove his worth.
