The Philadelphia 76ers and disgruntled superstar James Harden are officially in the middle of a standoff, with the two sides no longer seeing eye-to-eye and the one-time NBA MVP ready to make things incredibly uncomfortable for the franchise moving forward.
On Wednesday, Harden began his campaign to make things awkward for the 76ers, as he didn’t show up to practice, which could be the start of a very rocky start to the 2023-24 NBA season.
Apparently, according to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne via NBACentral, this is only the beginning of what Harden plans to do because he hasn’t gotten his way in terms of wanting to be traded to his hometown Los Angeles Clippers.

With Harden deciding to intentionally miss practice without consent from the team, he’s subject to a fine of $2,500, which is basically nothing to someone who has made an absurd amount of money throughout his NBA career and will make $35.6 million this upcoming season.
However, that number will get up to nearly $400,000 if Harden doesn’t show up for preseason and regular-season games moving forward, which will start to impact his bank account quite a bit, even if he’s making nearly $36 million this season.
It’ll be interesting to see what Harden has in store for the 76ers moving forward and what tactics he may try to use in order to get traded as soon as possible.
Even though he thinks he has the upper hand, the 76ers don’t have to do anything, while Harden continues getting frustrated and swamped with fines.
