The Boston Celtics may currently be one of the best teams in the NBA, but the franchise has received some flak in recent years over their treatment of players.
A recent example is Isaiah Thomas whom the Celtics traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Kyrie Irving despite the point guard playing through an injury.
Thomas was ruled out for the remainder of the Eastern Conference Finals after Game 2 due to a hip injury.
The point guard was never the same after and while Boston ended up being better after the trade, it still left feelings of resentment from Thomas and his peers.
Thomas’ best year with the Celtics was the 2016-17 season where he averaged nearly 30 points a game and finished fifth in MVP voting.
Recently, Boston posted a graphic that highlights Jayson Tatum becoming the first player in Celtics history to average 30 points for a full season and Thomas commented that Danny Ainge robbed him of a chance to achieve the same feat via his Twitter account.
“29.3 before Danny made me play limited minutes the last game of season lol,” Thomas tweeted.
29.3 before Danny made me play limited minutes the last game of season lol. Had my season low in minutes and pts lol… LEGENDARY to say the least tho https://t.co/jY0tyXXas3

Thomas wound up averaging 28.9 points per game, an amazing accomplishment for the former undrafted guard.
Thomas has never been afraid to speak the truth, so his implication about Ainge might hold some real truth to it.
While it’s unclear why Ainge would want to prevent Thomas from hitting the 30 points per game threshold, the fact of the matter is that the guard deserves to still be celebrated for what he managed to do in Boston.
