The Oklahoma City Thunder are currently on pace to win 57 games this season.
They’ve been incredibly fun to watch and quite tough to beat, especially at home, and they could legitimately have three perennial All-Stars on the team.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has emerged as a legitimate two-way superstar, Chet Holmgren has been as good as advertised, and Jalen Williams continues to make strides as a two-way contributor.
That’s why former NBA guard J.J. Redick believes they could be just one move away from winning an NBA championship, especially considering the fact that they have more draft capital than anybody else in the league to make a move.
Talking with Tim Legler about that for The Old Man & The Three, Redick thinks that adding the right piece to this ahead-of-schedule core could be the difference for Mark Daigneault’s team.

Nonetheless, Legler believes there could be even more value in staying put and just playing this season out.
The 10-year NBA veteran explains that letting this roster play could give them a better gauge and a clearer picture of where they stand against the rest of the league, and even if they get exposed in the postseason, that will allow them to know for sure what they need and who they should pursue.
On top of that, the offseason could lead to more big-name players being available.
Whatever the case, Sam Presti and Mark Daigneault deserve a lot of credit for what they’ve done with their assets and how they’ve put this team together.
