The NBA just announced the players for the All-Star Game.

As usual, this will lead to a lot of talk about players getting snubbed despite putting up big numbers.

That’s why former NBA sharpshooter JJ Redick believes it’s about time the league expands the All-Star Game roster.

“I strongly believe the NBA should expand the NBA All-Star roster size,” Redick said.

Talking on his The Old Man & The Three podcast, Redick made a case for it by explaining the fact that the league has expanded it’s number of teams and player pool, yet the number of All-Star players remain the same.

And while he acknowledges that All-NBA selections are more truthful in determining a player’s impact, being an All-Star is meaningful for players.

He argues that roughly 4% of the league makes an All-Star Game now, while it used to be closer to 25% back in the day.

Truth be told, this is an interesting and valid proposition.

Being an All-Star or not might not determine a player’s legacy as much, and it’s easier to ‘sneak’ into an All-Star team than an All-NBA team.

But more players should get this kind of recognition, especially with the fan vote having so much weight and often leading to controversial decisions and major snubs.

We have more teams now, so it’s only natural we have more roster spots as well.
