The Houston Texans have been one of the most surprising teams during the first four weeks of the NFL Season.
Many expected them to have growing pains with a first-year head coach and a rookie quarterback, which has not been the case.
C.J. Stroud has played better than advertised, and he has been given significant recognition thus far.
J.J. Watt recently called out Stroud’s spectacular play on the Pat McAfee Show, saying, “He’s doing all of this with a backup offensive line and doing it well.”

Stroud has already exceeded expectations and is well on his way to breaking the rookie record for passing yards.
Currently, that record is held by Andrew Luck, who threw 4.374 yards in his rookie campaign.
He has already thrown for 1,212 yards, the fourth-highest among all quarterbacks in 2023.
Stroud’s play has not only caught the attention of many analysts, but he’s also helping the Texans get back on the map.
The Texans have been seeking a playoff berth since the departure of Deshaun Watson.
Currently, every team in the AFC South is tied with a 2-2 record.
If that trend continues, they’ll have a great opportunity to make the playoffs in Stroud’s first year.
The Jacksonville Jaguars were expected to run away with the division given Trevor Lawrence’s rise in production in 2022.
However, they’ve had a slow start to the year, and the Texans have already beaten them once.
This gives the Texans the edge on the Jaguars at the moment, which could be the push they need at the end of the season.
