For years, LeBron James has been a subject of debate and scrutiny, even among non-NBA fans.

He’s had to deal with such high expectations and all the criticism, and the fact that he’s still able to perform at such a high level is simply remarkable.

That’s why former NFL star J.J. Watt tipped his hat to him and Stephen Curry for being able to stay relevant for such a long time, lauding them following that showdown in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals.

“LeBron, what he has done, from being a prodigy to where he is today and being able to live up to every single ounce of hype that he has had heaped upon him since he was a little kid is incredible. … I don’t know if we give him enough respect for that.”

It had been quite a while since we last saw Curry and LeBron go toe-to-toe in the NBA playoffs.

Curry and the Warriors had the last laugh three out of four times when James was still with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

LeBron, however, got perhaps the most significant win in NBA Finals history by leading the Cavs to the first — and only — 3-1 series comeback to spoil the Warriors’ record-breaking 73-9 season.

Notably, that was seven years ago, and these two guys are still posting video game-caliber numbers and leading their respective teams to the playoffs.

Not only is that crazy itself, but the fact that they’re two veterans playing better than some younger players who are just entering their physical prime only makes them more of a legend.

Most players are already on their way out of the league when they reach Curry’s age, and let’s not even get started with LeBron.

So, props to those two legends.

It doesn’t matter who you root for; you must enjoy them while you still can.
