Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes could go down as one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play in the NFL after how well he’s performed during his short career so far.
He’s won two of his three Super Bowl appearances, has won two NFL Most Valuable Player awards, and has reached six consecutive AFC Championship Games – feats some quarterbacks could only dream of reaching in their entire career.
Even with all of that success, former NFL defensive end J.J. Watt told ESPN’s “The Pat McAfee Show” that Mahomes still doesn’t get as much praise as he probably deserves for how well he’s played in the league.
“I don’t think that we give enough credit or we understand how incredible and how special that is,” Watt said, “and how lucky we are to get to see this guy play at such a high level for a long time.”

It is really hard to accurately explain greatness in the NFL – especially after players like Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and Peyton Manning recently retired – but Mahomes has already reached close to that level of entertainment despite his shorter NFL career so far.
He’ll reached legendary status if he makes his fourth Super Bowl and especially if he wins his third ring in just his sixth season as the full-time starter (he sat behind Alex Smith during his rookie year in 2017).
But a game against the top-seeded Baltimore Ravens is on the horizon in what should be a classic showdown for the AFC.
Baltimore boasts the best defense in the NFL and has likely MVP winner Lamar Jackson under center.
Regardless, Mahomes is already one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history.
