Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies is going to miss the first 25 games of the 2023-24 season because of appearing with a firearm on a social media live stream.
This was Morant’s second offense so the punishment handed down by the NBA was more severe.
However, Morant accepted the suspension in a new statement that he released to the press on Friday morning.
In the statement, he apologized to multiple people for letting them down and promised his fans that he was going to make it up to them.
“I hope you’ll give me the chance to prove to you over time I’m a better man than what I’ve been showing you,” Morant concluded.

Morant will have to work very hard to redeem himself and reclaim his spot as one of the most exciting and talked-about young stars in the league.
The guard has plenty of promise, there is no doubt about that.
But his career is now overshadowed by his off-court antics.
From the gun incidents to the multiple allegations against him, Morant has created a public persona that casts a dark shadow over his performance on the court.
Reports say that Morant will have conditions to meet before he is permitted back with his team next season.
It is likely they will include some counseling.
According to Morant, he will already be doing work on his mental health and “decision making.”
The Grizzlies star has taken full responsibility for the things he has done.
That is the first step to changing his ways.
Now comes the hard work of altering his lifestyle so he can be better known for his basketball skills than his personal life.
