Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies has made a habit of sharing ambiguous, cryptic messages on social media and he was at it again on Tuesday night.

As noted by NBACentral, Morant posted a simple smiley face emoji as his team took on – and butted heads – with the Los Angeles Lakers.

It’s not entirely clear what Morant’s emoji is a reference to but it could be a number of things.

Many people speculated that Morant was posting about the little scuffle that broke out during the Lakers-Grizzlies game.

During the first quarter of the game, Anthony Davis and Santi Aldama got into a shoving match, which earned them both technical fouls.

D’Angelo Russell, Desmond Bane, and Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins also received technicals when they got involved in their own ways.

The smile that Morant posted could possibly mean that he wished to get involved but it’s not entirely clear.

Morant is, of course, on the sidelines because he has been suspended by the league for 25 games due to his off-court appearances with guns.

Maybe Morant was commenting on the massive defeat his team was facing.

They ended up falling, 134-107, to the Lakers.

The Grizzlies have had an awfully tough season so far, with an abysmal 2-9 record, so maybe Morant was suggesting that things could be so much better if he was suited up and playing.

Unfortunately for the Grizzlies, they have to push through a few more weeks without Morant.

It’s not obvious what the Grizzlies star was referencing when he hopped on social media but it’s very clear that his tweet was noticed by many.
