The biggest news in the NFL this week has come down in Jacksonville, Florida.

The Jaguars made the big move to sign their Pro Bowl quarterback in Trevor Lawrence to a massive five-year extension worth $275 million.

On social media, the team made the deal official.

“Steezy Trev is here to stay. We have agreed to terms with QB Trevor Lawrence on a five-year contract extension,” the team’s Twitter account posted.

The former national champion and No. 1 overall pick in 2021 has proven early on that he has some real potential.

He has guided the team to back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 2004-2005.

Additionally, he has thrown for over 4,000 yards and had a completion percentage of over 65% in both seasons under head coach Doug Pederson.

Lawrence also helped deliver the team’s first playoff win since 2017 in January of 2023 after coming back from a 27-point deficit in the second half against the Los Angeles Chargers.

The team could have made the playoffs in 2023, but Lawrence played hurt late in the year and also turned the ball over a total of 21 times.

He is still just 24 years of age and looking to improve in a multitude of ways.

If he improves his decision-making, the Jaguars could be real contenders in the AFC.

With the likes of 1,000-yard running back Travis Etienne, Pro Bowl tight end Evan Engram, 1,000-yard receiver Christian Kirk, free-agent signee Gabe Davis, and first-round pick Brian Thomas Jr., Lawrence should have all the necessary weapons for a great season in 2024.
