The Jacksonville Jaguars will be looking to bounce back in 2024 after a disappointing 2023 NFL campaign that ended with them underperforming their preseason expectations.
Star quarterback Trevor Lawrence seemingly didn’t make the leap forward that most young players do, though he didn’t get much help from their defense as the unit was roughly around average in both the run and passing game.
Going into this past free agency period, Jacksonville needed to address several areas of their defense including their defensive line.
They managed to do just that when they signed Arik Armstead to a three-year, $51 million deal.
Armstead previously spent his entire career with the San Francisco 49ers as a key part of their defensive line but quickly found a home in Jacksonville after they released him.
While Armstead should be a steady addition to the team, it looks like he’ll miss parts of training camp as he was placed on the active/physically unable to perform list via the team’s official Twitter account.
“We have placed DL Arik Armstead on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.”

The PUP list is for players that can’t take part in training camp and this move was expected given that Armstead missed five games in 2023 due to a meniscus injury.
While it’s not necessarily good news, there shouldn’t be any panic as players can be activated off the PUP list at any point before the start of the regular season.
By all accounts, Armstead shouldn’t have to miss much time on the field though the situation is worth monitoring.
