The NFL is a ruthless business, and as such, it has a short memory.
It’s not about what you did in the past but about what you can do in the present or the future.
And being the physical sport it is, there’s not that much room for veterans anymore.
That’s why the Jacksonville Jaguars decided to cut ties with veteran DB Terrell Edmunds, at least for the time being, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

Even so, the report adds that he might still get to stick around.
Edmunds was released ahead of the roster-cut deadline, but Rapoport established that they still want to bring him back to the practice squad if he doesn’t get an opportunity to sign somewhere else.
The veteran safety entered the league as a first-round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers back in 2018.
He stayed there under Mike Tomlin’s tutelage for five years before signing with the Philadelphia Eagles last offseason.
The Eagles traded him to the Tennessee Titans midway through the 2023 campaign, and he played the remainder of the season there before eventually getting a deal with the Jaguars last May.
It’s safe to say that Edmunds’ best days are already behind him.
He was primarily a backup and rotational piece last season on all the teams he played, and that’s definitely going to be the case in Jacksonville if he finds his way back to Doug Pederson’s team.
The Jaguars are stacked on defense, and while they appreciate the veteran, they don’t actually need him.
