One might say that the New York Knicks overachieved this season.
They had the roster to make it to the Eastern Conference Finals and even the NBA Finals, but a team can only do so much after being so depleted by injuries.
Tom Thibodeau wasn’t to blame for his player’s injuries.
His team put up a huge fight and took the Indiana Pacers to six games, and they had a chance to win even in most of those losses.
That’s why star PG Jalen Brunson hated it when people started talking about their injuries and exhaustion as an excuse.
Talking to Josh Hart on the Roommates Show, the Villanova product claimed that he didn’t want that to be the narrative, adding that they could’ve still won despite the injuries.

Props to him for that competitive mindset, and you could tell that the whole Knicks roster felt the same way.
The Knicks were missing three starters at one point, with Mitchell Robinson and Julius Randle being out and Anunoby getting hurt late.
They were also missing a key contributor off the bench in Bojan Bogdanovic.
They were banged up, and without most of their core players, it is what it is.
