The Denver Nuggets needed to bring more energy than they had in their first two home games for Game 5.
The series headed back to Mile High for a pivotal matchup, and whoever won the game would have all the momentum on their side for the final contest — or contests.
Coach Mike Malone made sure to have the team ready and motivated to play.
However, when it came to the Xs and Os, he didn’t spend all that much time thinking about his tactics.
According to Jamal Murray, the game plan was just to give the ball to Nikola Jokic, get out of the way, and figure the rest out (via NBA).
“Gameplan was just give him the ball and we’ll figure it out.”

Unsurprisingly, it worked.
Jokic finished the night with 40 points, seven rebounds, 13 assists, two steals, one block, and a couple of three-pointers.
That’s why Murray didn’t hold back his thoughts on his teammate and the way he performed, as well as how he’s been able to shoulder this heavy load and lead the team right back in the series.
The Nuggets were in desperate need of a hero after falling to a 0-2 hole and hitting the road for the upcoming days of the series, and fortunately for them, they had the league’s MVP and best player.
Jokic continues to make history almost every time he sets foot on the court.
He’s already a first-ballot Hall of Famer, and if he pulls this comeback off and wins the whole thing again, we have to start putting his name among the greatest big men to ever do it.
