Cincinnati Bengals fans might be a little nervous heading into the final stretch of practices before the start of the 2024 NFL regular season.
The reason is that wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase, who is looking for a contract extension, appeared at practice in street clothes one day after head coach Zac Taylor said that the Pro Bowler would be practicing.
According to insider Kelsey Conway, Chase also showed up 13 minutes late to practice.

The Bengals absolutely need Chase if they want to be Super Bowl contenders this season.
The former first-round pick is one of the best receivers in the league.
The 2021 Offensive Rookie of the Year has earned three consecutive Pro Bowl nods, putting up more than 1,000 receiving yards in each of his NFL seasons.
He is coming off his first 100-catch season, but the most impressive campaign of his career might have been in 2022, when he posted 87 receptions for 1,046 yards and nine touchdowns in just 12 games.
Cincinnati, even with a healthy Joe Burrow at quarterback, is not good enough to win a Super Bowl without their superstar receiver.
If the front office has to get him a new deal to get him practicing, then that is what they have to do.
Seeing him show up to practice in street clothes doesn’t exactly show that he is close to getting a new contract or about to be ready to play in Week 1.
The 24-year-old has proven he is worth every penny of a possible extension and believes he deserves to have some security and fair compensation for his efforts.
